Linus Pauling Memorial Lectures: Dr. David Cox

Date:
Friday, February 24, 2012 - 19:00

Over the past decade, advances in human genetics, molecular biology, and information technology have ushered in what many believe will be a new era of "personalize medicine," in which technological advances are applied to individual lives to improve health outcomes. However, in an era of rising health-care and drug development costs, is this dream of personalized medicine more than just wishful thinking? Dr. David Cox, senior vice president of worldwide research and development for Pfizer and formerly a professor of genetics at Stanford University, will explore the reality of personalized medicine today, and the scientific and social changes required for this approach to significantly impact health outcomes in the future.
