Organic Geochemistry

The 2012 Gordon Research Conference on Organic Geochemistry will bring together scientists with diverse expertise and perspectives that are undertaking cutting-edge research in this rapidly advancing and dynamic field.

Presentations will focus on emerging and crosscutting topics that push the boundaries of the discipline. Emphasis will be placed on new concepts and analytical approaches that advance knowledge in areas including molecular-level to global-scale (bio)geochemical processes involved in organic matter exchange between the biosphere and geosphere, deciphering organic signatures preserved in geological archives in terms of past biological activity and environmental conditions, and the formation and characterization of petroleum systems. Presentations will be made by leading scientists at the core and on the periphery of the discipline, and include "Hot Topics" talks selected from submitted abstracts that highlight the latest innovations and discoveries.

The 2012 GRC will be preceded by the inaugural Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Organic Geochemistry, which will provide a forum for junior scientists and graduate students to present their research, and to exchange ideas and interact in relaxed atmosphere with leaders in the field serving as mentors.
